Is it okay to take Zoloft and painkillers?

I was prescribed zoloft for depression and prescriped an opiate for pain that i received in an automobile accident. I told my psychiatrist that i am on painkillers and he still prescribed me zoloft for depression. I'm just a little leary to take them together cause i don't want any bad reactions to happen. The doctor prescribed them so they must be okay but i would like a second opinion from someone out there just to make sure.

The pharmacist should be able to help you, it would really depend on the dosage of each but you should be wary it does not seem like a safe combo.I would talk to the doctor who gave you a prescription for the opiates (i'm assuming that was the first prescription)
