Wife of Flagler school Board member charged with leaving scene of fatal accident
BUNNELL -- Jamesine "Jamie" Fischer, wife of Flagler County School Board member John Fischer, was arrested Friday night and charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving a death, a first-degree felony punishable by up to 30 years in prison.
Jamesine Fischer was driven to the Flagler County jail about 7 p.m. Friday by her attorney, Steve Alexander. The charge stems from accusations that Jamesine Fischer "attempted to mislead" rescuers and witnesses by not revealing that her car had struck Francoise Pecqueur as the woman was walking her dog along a Palm Coast street on Nov. 10.
Two Florida Highway Patrol troopers were waiting for Jamesine Fischer in the jail parking lot. They spoke briefly to her after she stepped out of her attorney's SUV. Fischer was silent and grim-faced as troopers escorted her to a nearby FHP cruiser, handcuffed her and put her in the back seat. Then a trooper drove her about 75 yards into a gated area of the jail where she was taken out of the car and escorted inside to be booked.
