    Okay, when my husband came home from a relative's house today, he noticed a baby bird on the side of the road that didn't move when he drove up. He went back to the bird to see if it was okay, and noticed it had a head injury. He picked it up and placed it in a clean spare box we had inside and waited for me to get home (30 minutes later) since I'm experienced with handling birds.

    When I came home I took a look at the bird and saw

    I'm sorry to say if it's as bad as you say, it probably won't make it until you can even get to the vet. The best you can do is keep it warm and try to feed it. Depending on what kind of bird it is, you will have to figure out what it eats. You can try

    Unfortunately, I think the rescue centres are correct. The most merciful thing to do is to put it down. If you do manage to keep it alive, the rescue facility may be willing to take it in, but somehow I doubt that. I realize that you want to help,
