Egypt: New Protests Sweep the Country | Yalla Finance
About 50,000, mainly Islamist, protesters flocked to Cairo’s Tahrir Square on Friday to press Egypt’s military rulers to transfer power to elected civilians, after the cabinet launched a move to exempt the army from parliamentary oversight.
The protesters chanted Islamic songs before Friday prayers while others handed out flyers demanding the withdrawal of the constitutional proposal and that presidential elections be held no later than April 2012, instead of at the years’ end or in 2013.

Over the last few days there has been what appears to be a coordinated attempt by many of the nation's mayors to end the Occupy Wall Street protests that have swept the country - and much of the world.

As many as forty cities are reported to have accepted PERF’s advice, including San Francisco, Seattle, New York, Portland, Oakland, Atlanta, and Washington DC.And Mayor Jean Quan, who has faced opposition from all sides for her handling of the Occupy camp across from her offices in City Hall, disclosed in an interview with the BBC (@5:32) that she spoke on a conference call with 18 other cities leading up to the raids.
