Good afternoon. This is Superintendent Jeffrey Granatino, with an important message regarding a car accident that occured in town. Last night, at approximately 6:00, there was a car accident on York Street involving six students who attend Canton High School. All students involved in the accident were taken to area hospitals.
At this time four students have been released from the hospital while two remain hospitalized. I hope you understand that for reasons of confidentiality, I cannot share the names of the students or any details on their conditions.
The school staff and its crisis team are aware of the situation and support for all students and staff will be in place on Monday.
I will provide updated communications when appropriate throughout the weekend as we prepare to welcome students back to school on Monday.
Our thoughts and prayers are with our students and their families during this critical time. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
