Last Friday, a Pitbull was taken into custody after attacking and biting two people sending both 24 year old Jasmine Feller and 19 year old, Kyle Wacker to the hospital.
The dog, "Lucky Boy," is currently in quarantine at Sioux City's Animal Adoption and Rescue.
Cindy Rarrat, the manager of the shelter, says, "We're here for the public. The general public. We want to prevent as many dog bites as possible. There is a zero tolerance for dogs that bite, unfortunately and that can be any dog. If any dog bites, they will be subject to the guidelines set forth by the city, which means the removal of the animal or specific requirements for those high risk animals."
But because Lucky Boy wasn't only deemed "high-risk" but "vicious," he is not eligible for adoption and will need to be put down after his quarantine period to check him for diseases like rabies.
Animal experts say all of this could have been prevented by following city rules regarding Pitbulls and other dogs similar to the breed.
