Medical NegligenceThe care that you receive from a hospital, doctor, nurse or other health care agency has a large impact on your well being. Generally speaking, Australia has a high health care standard meaning you are entitled to receive the best care possible when seeing a medical professional. This is however, not always the case and at times your injury/condition may be worsened due to poor medical treatment, entitling you to make a medical negligence claim.

But those who have managed to follow the discussion must all agree an apology is an absolute must. It is heartening to see the Catholic Church, which arranged my adoption, has apologised, as have a number of women's hospitals. The federal government and all the state governments should, as a matter of decency, follow suit.
Practically, governments need to do more to ease the pain that exists for tens of thousands of mothers and their children. The NSW government, and particularly the Minister Pru Goward, must improve access to adoption records, and to improve post-adoption support. Finding my birth mother was a cold, complicated and expensive experience for me.The process is extremely bureaucratic. The forms needed are not easily understood, and the process is a two- sometimes three-stage frolic into the underbelly of multiple government agencies.
First you must request, and pay for, a document called "a Supply Authority" that gives you identifying information from Community Services, and then you must move on to another bureaucracy to search for marriage certificates, change of name documents, or even a death certificate.
