A six-figure personal injury compensation settlement has been awarded to a woman who sustained brain damage in a road traffic accident .
According to the Brent & Kilburn Times, Devbai Patel suffered a life-changing head injury when she was hit by a lorry in Neasden in January 2008 and subsequently had to spend two weeks in intensive care.
The 60-year-old was struck when the vehicle careered off the road and she was then airlifted to hospital for emergency treatment for the multiple fractures she sustained.
She will now require care and assistance for the rest of her life and her family took legal action on her behalf.
A case heard at the High Court in London has ruled she is entitled to a lump sum damages payment of £750,000 followed by index-linked instalments of £25,000 every year.
