GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Police in Grand Rapids are looking for the man who shot and killed another man during what appears to have been an episode of road rage.
Eyewitnesses say it all started with a minor traffic accident, a vehicle rear-ended at the intersection of Lafayette and State around 8:20 Tuesday morning. Both drivers got out, and began yelling and fist fighting.
“They fought for 30 to 40 seconds, heard a loud 'pop' noise, one of the people jumped back into what appeared to be a Navigator and drove away,” said Michael Clark.
The victim was shot once in the chest.
Police say the shooter is a black man who had a female passenger in the SUV. Police are asking for help in the investigation. They've released a surveillance picture of the Lincoln Navigator and a hat, believed to belong to the shooter. They are looking for a black male in his 20s or 30s and say that Navigator likely has some damage from the accident.
