If you talk about road safety in recent times, then it can be said that the number of parking tickets have gone up almost four times in recent days and what’s more the government is also in talks to increase the parking fine amounts amidst such hard times. Do you really think, all these are related to traffic flow management measures? I don’t think so.
19% more than the previous year, 3,402,860 parking offence tickets were handed out in the course of one year (2005). When investigated we found out that 794,851 amount of tickets were issued in the time of 2000-01. Why is there such a drastic increase? Parking tickets have become a mere means of take-home pay. We, motorists do not know whether this money is even being used in the development of local transport. It is being used so habitually that motorists are starting to doubt whether its purpose is our safety or just another donation to the Government’s trust.

In what US State should I live?
I'm from NJ but having retired, I'm looking for a state with the following:
Low real estate taxes
Cool Climate (Not snow city but not hot and humid) -- Rain is nice
Good for People w/ Allergies
Low traffic, Relaxed (Visited NC and no one honks there ever)
A state where restaurants and shopping don't close down early
Local theatre (the stage kind)--would like to keep acting
Good medical facilities--have

Singapore's 'Lemon Law' was passed in Parliament today.
It comprises amendments to the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act (CPFTA), the Hire Purchase Act (HPA) and Road Traffic Act and covers all general consumer products purchased in Singapore (e.g. stationery, apparel, electronics, bedding, and big-ticket items such as motorcycles and cars).The amendments will make the transactional process between buyer and seller more open and transparent, with clearer rules on the burden of proof, and more certainty about the recourses available.
With this in place, there will now be additional remedies beyond just rejecting the goods and getting a refund.
The retailer may first offer to repair or replace the defective good within a reasonable period of time and without significant inconvenience to the buyer. If this is not possible, the consumer may either keep the item and get a partial refund, or return the item and get a full refund.
The full refund amount will take into account the state of the good resulting from the consumer's use.
