A dozen people were hurt early Monday when a van crashed into a Waste Management truck in Newton, police said.

Garbage truck accident causes Friday morning rush hour delays ...
North New Jersey commuters faced lengthy delays on Friday morning because of a garbage-bearing semi-truck which overturned on the Lincoln Tunnel helix in Weehawken. The semi-truck fell onto its side and spilled garbage on the highway. The truck driver was rushed to Hoboken University Medical Center with unknown personal injuries.
Trucking accidents are common throughout Northern New Jersey. Although no passenger vehicles were involved in Friday morning's crash, many trucking accidents involve passenger vehicles and result in severe personal injuries because semi-trucks are drastically larger than average passenger vehicles.

Garbage Truck Crashes into Church's AC Unit
PHOENIX - A garbage truck crashed into a sport utility vehicle and knocked down an air conditioning unit near 35th Avenue and Sweetwater Monday morning.
The crash happened on the Northminster Presbyterian Church's property and Arizona Public Service had to shut off power in the area.
Authorities say the SUV's driver ran a red light, which caused the truck to crash into it, then into a retaining wall, hitting the AC unit and destroying the power boxes.
The truck's drivers needed to be extricated and was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
After the crash, the SUV ended up slamming into a bus stop.
Pastor Wayne Kirk had hoped to have a quiet morning at the church to write his Ash Wednesday sermon. Once he arrived at the scene, he realized that wasn't going to happen.
"This is unfortunate..a big garbage truck has run into our..fortunately it hasn't hit the building itself, but taken out one of our 15 ton air conditioning units, destroyed all the power to the church, which is going to affect our food bank...as well as our services as we start the season of Lent," explained Kirk.
