A man inside the house barely escaped with his life.
No injuries were reported, but a cat was reported dead, according to eyewitnesses at the scene.
Athens-Clarke County Captain Charles Newson said the driver is still on the run as of Saturday night.
“An officer observed a drunk driver driving into oncoming traffic,” Newson said. “But the officer lost him and the next thing we know, the car’s in the house. He’s still on the run. It is possible that there was more than one person.”

KANE -- A McKean County house had to be demolished after a fully loaded log truck crashed through it Saturday.
State police at Kane said the truck, driven by Thomas L. Jashurek, 39, of Kane, was southbound on Route 66 near Old Mill Road in Wetmore Township when it went off the road for an unknown reason Saturday at about 9:30 a.m.
The truck traveled 81 feet before striking a utility pole, shearing it off, and then went another 38 feet before hitting a parked Chevrolet Impala, which spun into a neighboring driveway, police said.
The truck continued on for 22 more feet, hitting the front porch of the James Morgan residence before going a final 38 feet and stopping inside a second residence, police said.
Police said four people were inside that two-story structure owned by Bruce Peterson and had to be rescued by Kane volunteer firefighters. Two of the four were taken to Kane Community Hospital and released after treatment for minor injuries, police said.
