my dad is a truck driver, and just had a mild heart attack. it didn't damage his heart or anything serious, but he was in the hospital for about 3 days. can you still be a truck driver if you had a mild heart attack (that is fixed), or is it unsafe and will they take away your CDL?
im pretty sure your dads doctor has the authority to hold his steering papers if he deems it to be a safety issue.
hope your dad is ok.
THE MOTHER of a cyclist killed in Dublin has said the city's road safety standards still have a long way to go.
Lecturer Barbara Gill (49), who lived in Castlecomer, Co Kilkenny, was hit by a lorry on Dublin's quays in April 2007.
She was an experienced cyclist and was wearing all the correct safety gear when she was fatally injured.
Her mother Margaret praised gardai for putting up a light at the location of the accident -- but believes more steps need to be taken.
"Gardai put up a wonderful flashing light to say there are cyclists there, which we thought was good," Mrs Gill told the Herald.
"It's a warning for people that cyclists would be in that area. I imagine people would see it and slow down a bit," she added.
Barbara was killed on April 19 when the driver of a skip lorry turned left near the Aisling Hotel, along by Conyngham Road and Wolfe Tone Quay.
"He didn't see Barbara. She was on her bike going straight on down the quays. The indicator (on the truck) was not working. That was the problem. That was a very important aspect. She would have seen the indicator (had it been working)."
