Neck injury or not (surfing injury)?
So surfing this morning I got caught by a wave and it smashed me neck first. I got up and its been 10 hours or so and no problem. The muscle around the area is tender and I've only got this tiny uncomfortable numbness near the top of my spine. I can still use every part of my body no problems. I think I may have just got whiplash but not sure.
Should I go see a doctor?

neck surgery? proper answers please?
Ok so in november 2009 i had a neck injury - whiplash - and in december 2009 i had to have cervical spine surgery ( i think its called that) in which my surgen placed a plate and 2 screws between two vertibrates in the semi centre of my neck in order to keep the bones in alignment and from slipping out of space. I was told it took a year to heal but now the year has passed i am wondering if anyone who has had a similar injury knows anything about
I know this isn't the answer you want, but you need to have a doctor clear you for a sport like BMX. If your neck hasn't completely healed properly and you take a nasty spill, you could be looking at the chair for life...
So your neck is not the same any more, with a plate installed, you have lost what is called Range of Motion, so there are now movements you neck will never be able to do again. Basically parts of your neck are more rigid, its in a fixed position forever
