April 26--1 The Quakes had been expecting to receive one of the Dodgers' top outfield prospects within the first couple weeks of the season, but this week they found out he bypassed them.
Brian Cavazos-Galvez, ranked as the Dodgers' No. 19 prospect by Baseball America, batted .318 with 16 home runs and 77 RBIs in 121 games for low Single-A Great Lakes last year. He had started the 2011 season in extended spring training with an injury, but Quakes manager Juan Bustabad was expecting to get Cavazos-Galvez when he became healthy.
But perhaps as a trickle-down effect when the Dodgers promoted outfield prospect Jerry Sands from Triple-A Albuquerque to the big leagues, Cavazos-Galvez was sent right to Double-A Chattanooga.
After getting three hits in his first two games there, Cavazos-Galvez is hitless and batting .176 (3 of 17) in six games.
