    Saucon Valley School District releases terms of settlement agreements

    The Saucon Valley School District has paid out money in three settlements with students and a worker but received $500,000 in a construction settlement.

    The district provided the terms of all but one of its settlement agreements for 2009, 2010 and 2011. It was part of a response to a Right-To-Know request from The Express-Times that sought all settlement agreements the district reached over those three years.

    During that time, Saucon was paid $500,000 in settlements. It also paid out $65,000 to settle special- and gifted-education related disputes and $95,000 in a workers’ compensation claim.

    Saucon again refused to release one settlement with a former student’s family, citing confidentiality. The district denied a Dec. 9 Express-Times request for the agreement, a ruling the newspaper appealed to the state Office of Open Records.
